Add a tab and component to a customised Lightning page layout

This article explains how to identify whether you're using a customised Lightning page layout and add a tab and component.

To support new features, Lumary may add tabs and components to some Lightning page layouts. If you're using a customised Lightning page layout, you may need to add them to that page’s layout.

We've used the Client Record Page layout in our examples, as this is one of the most commonly customised layouts in Lumary. You can apply the same steps to other objects and customised layouts. We've listed recommended updates to align to Lumary releases in the table at the end of the article.

Step-by-step instructions

The following instructions explain how to identify if you're using customised page layouts for client records and how to update them. The same process can be applied to Lightning pages on other objects and record types. These steps can be used to add any of the tabs and components listed in the table at the end of the instructions.

To add a component to a customised Lightning client record layout:

1. Click on the cog setup icon.
2. Select Setup.
3. Click on the Object Manager tab.
4. Click in the Quick Find search field.
5. Type contact.
6. Click on the Contact object name text link.
7. Select Lightning Record Pages.
8. Click on the View Page Assignments button.
9. Click on the App, Record Type, and Profile tab.
10. Check the Client record types to see whether you have custom layouts assigned to Lumary profiles, for example Lumary - Advanced, Lumary - Basic or Lumary - Standard, or your System Administrator profile.

11. Click on the text link of your custom layout name.
12. Click on the Edit button. This button will only appear on customised Lightning record pages. It won't appear on the default Lumary Lightning client record page, which will only show the View and Clone buttons.
13. Click on the section you want to add the tab and/or component to. If you are adding a component to an existing tab or section, skip to step 18.
14. Click on the Add Tab button in the Page > Tabs panel on the right.
15. Click on the new tab and scroll up to select Custom in the Tab Label field.
16. Add the tab name (e.g. Related Files) in the Custom Label field, and click Done.
17. In the Page > Tabs panel on the right, click and drag your tab to the desired location.
18. Click into the new tab or area you want to add the component to.
19. In the Components panel on the left, type the component name (e.g. Contact Related Files) into the Search... field.
20. Drag the component from the panel and drop it onto the desired location.
21. Click on the Save button.
22. Once the page has saved, click on the white back arrow on the blue background to go back to Setup. Repeat steps 3 to 21 for any other custom page layouts.
