This article outlines how to set up to claim the new NDIS group supports.
This functionality requires at least Lumary 16.5.
The NDIA has announced that ratioed line items for group supports will be discontinued on 30 June 2022. Lumary 16.5 introduced new functionality to support providers to claim under the new NDIS group supports and this included changes to how service agreements and Sessions Calendar appointments are set up.
To claim the new NDIS group supports, there are some things you'll need to set up in your clients' service agreements. If you're planning to deliver group supports through Sessions Calendar appointments, then there are some more things to set up in those appointments.
This article outlines the key things to do, whether you're setting up new service agreements or Sessions Calendar appointments or changing existing ones. Links to more detailed step-by-step articles are also included.
Click on the links below to learn how to:
- Set up a new service agreement to claim group supports
- Change an existing service agreement to claim group supports
- Set up a new Sessions Calendar appointment with the group supports, or
- Change an existing scheduled service in the Sessions Calendar to the new group supports.
Set up a new service agreement
For a new service agreement, create one in the usual way and make sure that you:
- add service line items for the new group supports, and
- define the delivery ratio for those service line items.
You may need to add multiple instances of the same service line item, with each line item having a different delivery ratio specified. This will allow flexibility when adding the service to a group session.
Change an existing service agreement
For existing service agreements where categories are restricted to specific line items, you will need to make some changes. Check out this article that explains changes required on service agreements to allow group support service claiming.
If you change existing service agreement line items, you must also change any corresponding scheduled sessions or Skedulo jobs. When services are delivered, they must match the service line items in the service agreement that is current at that time to generate service delivered (SD) records.
For service agreements with unrestricted categories, you'll be able to claim the new group supports without changing the service agreement.
Set up a new Sessions Calendar appointment
For a new Sessions Calendar appointment, create one in the usual way and make sure that:
- the clients you're adding have the new group support service line items in their service agreements
- you select one of the new group supports when adding planned services to the appointment, and
- you define the Scheduled Delivery Ratio for the service.

Change an existing scheduled service in the Sessions Calendar
Before changing a scheduled service to the new group supports, you must first make the required changes to the service agreements for all clients in the session who will receive the service.
For an existing Sessions Calendar appointment, you'll need to make changes to the services by editing the session record. Check out this article explaining how to change an existing scheduled service by editing a session record.
Dealing with recurrences
When dealing with a series of recurrent sessions, you can change the existing scheduled services, but you'll need to make the changes for each client in the session who will receive that service. Alternatively, you may end the series of recurrences and create a new series of recurring sessions. Check out this article explaining how to create a new appointment for a group of clients through the Sessions Calendar.
