- how we're helping providers support participants as they transition to PACE, and
- any changes we make to Lumary to support the transition.

24/4/2024 | Minor release 3 PACE updates
We’ve begun to deploy Lumary 21 minor release 3, with a bunch of useful updates for providers with clients transitioning to PACE.
We’ve added a new Transitioned to NDIS PACE checkbox field, which providers can add to client record page layouts. Find out how in our introduction to changing a client record layout article.
For providers using our NDIA Integration Module, this field was made available in an earlier update to the module.
We’ve made choosing between PACE and non-PACE services easier. The PACE Plan checkbox in NDIS agreements now changes which support category and service options show. When the checkbox is ticked, only PACE options are listed. If it’s unticked, non-PACE Plan options show and PACE Plan options are filtered out.
We’ve also included a count of open claims on the Item Summary table in NDIS extracts.
As service bookings don’t apply to PACE Plans, we’ve updated our Lumary Settings. The Require Service Booking to Extract setting won’t be applied to service delivered (SD) records on PACE agreements.
We’ve also updated the way open claims are handled when sending NDIS extracts to financial systems using the following buttons:
- Send to Xero
- Send to MYOB Essentials, and
- Financial Package Extract.

The PACE transition comes with plenty of new and tricky terms. The NDIA have published a handy glossary to help you find your way around. Head over to their improvements site for a list of terms and definitions they're using for the new computer system.
21/12/2023 | PACE plan categories and services deployed
We’ve deployed updates to the latest minor release versions of Lumary CM to support the latest version of the NDIS support catalogue. This includes the addition of categories and services for the new PACE plan categories.

We’ve also published a new article that lists the PACE plan services that we’ve added. It links to articles that explain how to make these services available in your environment.
5/12/2023 | PACE plan categories in pricing update
As part of the changes for PACE, the NDIA has added 6 new categories. 4 of these were split from existing categories, while 2 are brand new. They’ve also renamed 6 categories.
The 28 November 2023 update to the NDIS support catalogue included provisions for the new PACE plan categories. As part of our NDIS pricing updates, we’re adding categories and services to Lumary CM to accommodate these provisions. This will make it easier for providers to set up service agreements for PACE plans.

23/11/2023 | NDIA Integration Module - Participant Consent Improvement
We’ve improved the PACE Indicator in our NDIA Integration Module to better handle participant consent. If you’re using our NDIA Integration Module, head over to our live NDIA API integration status page to find out more about this improvement.
1/11/2023 | Lumary 21 minor release 1
Lumary 21 minor release 1 is now available. This release includes support for providers with clients transitioning to PACE. Check out our minor release notes, which explain:
- the new Open Claim status on the Claim Status field on extract items (EXI) and service delivered (SD) records. This shows when the NDIA has returned a claim marked as OPEN, and
- the new checkbox and badge on NDIS service agreements that you can use to show when an agreement is for an NDIA Plan on the PACE system.
18/10/2023 | What we know so far
As we approach the start of the national PACE rollout, we thought we'd share a bit of 'what we know so far'.
With the transition to PACE, the NDIA is changing the computer system they use to store NDIS plans. They're phasing out their old SAP system and transitioning to a new Salesforce system they call PACE.
As they make this move, they're also introducing a few extra changes to plans and claiming. These include:
- new portals for accessing plans and information
- the end of service bookings
- a new My Provider status that shows the relationship between participants and providers, and
- changes to the category structure of NDIS plans.
The NDIA plans to begin rolling out PACE nationally on 30 October 2023. They expect the rollout to take up to 18 months.
To help providers understand what this might mean, we’ve put together a couple of lists of what we currently know about:

Which plans will this affect?
For now, most existing plans will remain on the old SAP system. Between November 2023 and February 2024, the NDIA will develop plans in the new system for participants if:
- they apply to the NDIS or receive their first plan, or
- their plan expires and they -
- need a new plan that is different to their current plan, or
- request a change to their plan that means they need a plan reassessment.
Participants with a plan expiring during this time may have the option to continue their current plan in the existing system if it:
- meets their needs, and
- includes the right supports.
The NDIA has provided an estimate of how many plans could be transitioning. We've reproduced the table in our post from 13/10/2023 below.
How will I know if this affects my client's plan?
The NDIA has indicated several ways providers may learn when a participant's plan transitions. These include:
- through involvement in, or awareness of, a participant's plan reassessment
- notification from a participant that they have nominated the provider as a My Provider
- error messages provided when submitting a single payment claim request
- claim requests returning with a status of OPEN, which indicates that a participant is yet to nominate the provider as a My Provider
- being unable to create a service booking for the participant in the myplace provider portal
- end-dated service bookings for the previous plan. These are visible in the myplace provider portal report function, or
- by viewing requests for service for support coordination or psychosocial recovery coaching services in the my NDIS provider portal.
Lumary 21 minor release 1 includes changes to support the OPEN status.

The NDIA have posted estimates of how many plans they expect to approve in the PACE system over the next few months.

11/10/2023 | NDIA Integration Module
If you’re using or interested in our NDIA Integration Module, head over to our live NDIA API integration status page. We’ve added an update to describe some improvements we’ve planned for the module to support the transition to PACE. These include:
- a PACE Indicator, and
- a My Provider Relationship Status Indicator.

19/9/2023 | Introducing the PACE transition updates page
Welcome to PACE transition updates. We’ve established this page to follow-on from the email we sent in early September.
We’ve been working alongside providers who were involved in the initial tests in Tasmania. This has helped us to understand how the new approach is evolving and anticipate some of the potential impact on providers.
We’re also keeping up with information being made available by the NDIA and other industry sources. This includes attending recent technical briefings and consuming relevant technical documentation.
Current plans
We’re currently planning to:
- add fields to help providers identify clients who have transitioned to PACE, and
- update our extract results processing to support the new Open claim status. The NDIA has introduced this status to indicate that a client who has transitioned to PACE has not endorsed the claimant as a My Provider, and the claim is still being assessed.
We’re also continuing to monitor NDIA communications to learn more about how the transition will be rolled out.
