This article explains how to link an incident to a restrictive practice.
If a restrictive practice was used as part of a response to a reportable incident, you can link the restrictive practice (RP) record to the incident management record.
Before you begin...
Before you can link an incident to a restrictive practice, you'll need to make sure the restrictive practice has been defined on the client's contact record. Check out this article for more information on defining restrictive practices.
If the incident has already been recorded, you'll also need the incident management record number.
To link an incident to a restrictive practice:
- Navigate to the client's contact record.
- Click on the Health tab.
- Scroll down to the Restrictive Practices section.
- Click on the text link for the restrictive practice you want to link to an incident.
- This will open the Restrictive Practice record.
- Click on the Related tab.
- Scroll down to the Incidents and Restrictive Practices section.
- Click on the New button.
- This will launch the New Incident and Restrictive Practice form.
- Click in the Client field and search for the client's contact record.
- The Associated Restrictive Practice field will have auto-filled with the restrictive practice record you selected earlier.
- Click in the Associated Incident field.
- Search for the incident management record relating to the incident you want to link to the restrictive practice. To do this, you'll need to enter the incident management record number and then select the correct record when it appears in the drop-down list.
If the incident hasn't already been recorded, you can do this now by selecting + New Incident Management and following the steps in this article to record an incident. When doing this, make sure you complete the Client field to link the records correctly.
- Click on the Save button.
- This will create a new Incident and Restrictive Practice record, that will be listed in the Incidents and Restrictive Practices section of the client contact record.
