When preparing for data migration, your implementation team may need a temporary location to store and access migration files before transferring them to a local drive. This article explains how to use a dedicated data migration library to do this.
Required packages and permissions
Available with: Lumary 2.17 and later
Supported in: Lumary DC
Permission: System Administrator
Creating a dedicated library in the Files area is the recommended approach for storing data migration files. Libraries exist at the organisation level and do not affect client or worker records, which means your reporting remains unaffected.
To create a library and upload your migration files:
- Click the App Launcher icon (the grid of dots in the top navigation bar). In the search field, type Files, then click Files from the results.
- Click the Libraries tab at the top of the Files page.
- Click New in the top-right corner of the Libraries list.
- In the Library Name field, enter a name — for example, Data Migration.
- Click Save
- Click the library name (for example, Data Migration) to open it. Click Add Files.
- Click Add Files, then browse to and select your migration files. You can also drag and drop files directly into the upload area.
- Click Add, to add the file/s to that library. Note: Once uploaded, you can click each file name to open a preview, then click Download in the preview window to save it to a local drive. Repeat for all migration files (as needed).
Important Once the data migration is complete, you can delete these local files. Once the library is no longer required, return to the Libraries tab, click the dropdown arrow next to the library name, and select Delete.
