This article explains how to claim part of a week when using the supported independent living (SIL) weekly service.
The NDIA requires that providers claim a client's SIL services using either the hourly or weekly service item, not both. They advise that, when using the weekly item for claiming, providers can claim a partial week by reducing the quantity.
Before you begin...
This advice is for providers using the weekly service to make SIL claims. To claim partial weeks using this advice, you'll need a service agreement that includes the Supported independent living - Weekly service. Find out how to set up a service agreement for SIL weekly claiming.
To claim for part of a week using the weekly SIL line item, providers should reduce the quantity on the service delivered (SD) record. This should be a decimal fraction equivalent to the number of days delivered during that week. You can calculate this fraction by dividing the number of days delivered by 7.
For example, 2 days of service delivery would be 2/7 = 0.29.
To claim the partial week:
- edit the existing SD record before including it in an extract or on an invoice, and change the Quantity/Amount to the decimal amount, or
- create a new SD record manually and add the decimal amount to the Quantity/Amount field.
