This article explains how to create new resources to assign to jobs through Skedulo.
What is a resource?
Resources can either be workers (as they are referred to in Lumary and easyemployer), which are people that deliver jobs, or assets, which are generally equipment or supplies needed for workers to undertake certain jobs. Both types of assets can be allocated to jobs once they have been created.
To add a new resource:
- Click on the Resources tab.
- Click on New.
Adding a worker
Workers are the people that carry out jobs assigned to them in Skedulo. To add a new worker:
- Add the Worker's name in the Resource Name field.
- Choose Person as the Resource Type.
- Fill out any other details for the new resource and click Save.
Adding an asset
Assets are items or equipment needed for workers to deliver jobs. Registering assets in Skedulo is a great way to track their whereabouts and availability. Assets can be created and assigned to jobs in a similar way to workers. To create an asset:
- Enter the name of the asset in the Resource Name field.
- Choose Asset as the Resource Type.
- Fill out any other details for the new resource and click Save.
Non-mandatory fields
The previous sections explain how to fill out the minimum information required to create resources. However, we recommend filling in more fields to create more complete records for later use. Particularly the Primary Region of a resource is important, as this will determine where the resource is available to be allocated. The following table gives a description of some of the important fields to look at when creating a resource.
Field | Description |
Resource Name | The full name of the worker or name of the asset. |
Resource Type | Whether the resource is a Person (worker) or an Asset. |
User | If the resource is a Person then it will need to be attached to a user in order to log in and use the mobile app. See how to create a new user for more information on this. |
Primary Region | The region that this resource operates in and can be assigned jobs in. If the appropriate region is not shown, a new one can be added by selecting New Region from the drop-down menu. |
Category | The category of work that the resource carries out. |
The resource's email address. | |
Primary Phone | The resources primary phone number. |
Mobile Phone | If the resource's primary phone number is not a mobile device, then a separate mobile number may also be added. |
Notification Type | Whether the resource should be notified of new jobs via text message or push notification directly from the Lumary mobile app. |
Hourly Rate | The resource's hourly pay rate when undertaking jobs. |
Employment Type | The type of employment |
Working Hours Type | Whether the resource is a shift worker or can be assigned jobs within particular times of availability. |
Home Address | The resource's home address. |
Is Active | This checkbox must be ticked for a resource to be scheduled against a job in the web app. |
Weekly Hours | The number of hours worked weekly by this resource. |
Alias | An alternative name for the resource. |
After saving you will be taken to the new resource's page where you can view and edit the resource's details.
Now that you've setup a resource you'll need to define their availability before you're ready to schedule a Skedulo job and assign a worker to it.
